Experts say a hoard of buried treasure discovered by a jobless English man is
"war booty" and probably belonged to a pagan king.
The find - the largest of its kind - was discovered in a humble farming field
in Staffordshire in central England.
After years of searching for buried treasure, Terry Herbert's dreams came true
in a field of his friend's farm when his cheap metal detector flagged almost
six kilograms of gold and silver.
The booty dates back from the Dark Ages and could be the treasure of kings
past.
Dr Roger Bland, from the British Museum, says it is hard to pinpoint the exact
value of the hoard.

Pagan police officers in Britain have been given the right to take eight days off work a year to celebrate "religious holidays" including Hallowe'en
and the summer solstice.
It follows the setting up of a Pagan Police Association to represent officers
who worship nature and believe in many gods.

A news article I came across recently about an Alternative Spirituality store in Montreal got me me thinking about local occult shops. I know for many of us, it's very easy to purchase things from online stores and shops. But have you ever looked in the phone book for a local occult or spirituality shop? Many of these stores are small business owners that need our patronage as well. Many of these local stores will also have educational class that they offer on various subjects such as mediation classes, divination classes such as runes and tarot and even more. Also, many of these stores have online websites where you order online.

Ignorance has striked again. This time in Scotland where a baptist church was attacked. A dead rabbit was found on the door. Pagans across the world have reacted angrily to accusations that they are responsible for a spate of attacks on churches in a Highland town. In a year-long campaign, a series of sinister notes written in pink ink have been left on the front door of Grantown Baptist Church in High Street, Grantown, with the attacks culminating in a dead rabbit being pinned to the door a fortnight ago. Last week, church deacon Bob Fishwick suggested that the notes were the work of a “bit of a crackpot” and that pagans could be to blame. The comments have provoked fury on an internet chat site, with people from as far away as Canada questioning the assumption that pagans are the perpetrators. A post by Suzanne Sutherland said: “I am a pagan and I wouldn’t waste my time upsetting a congregation of any bona fide church, synagogue, temple or mosque. What does this church think pagans do anyway? Do they think we sit at home during the day cackling over our witches brews and riding our broomsticks at night?

Sprague CT - Some folks on the library's board of trustees were just a little spooked. What's that? A real live witch was going to practice his craft at the library on Halloween? In front of children? Yes, said Linda Puetz, president of the Friends of Sprague Public Library. And the witch, the Rev. Rapid Cabot Freeman, was going to charge admission and donate the proceeds to the library. Freeman himself came to the trustees' meeting last Tuesday night to reassure them. ”We don't throw lightning bolts, we don't kill babies and we don't drink blood,” Freeman said. “It's not about that. It's about positive energy.”
